Tayyab Rashid, Ph.D. C. Psych. | Licensed Clinical Psychologist

Licensed Clinical Psychologist who uses a Positive Psychology approach to build “what’s-Strong to fix-what’s-Wrong”* in people.

Dr. Rashid works at theUniversity of Toronto Scarborough, Canada as psychotherapist and researcher. He also is a consultant with the Values in Action Institute, USA. Dr. Rashid’s expertises include positive clinical psychology and resilience training in school settings. Dr. Rashid, completed his completed his pre-and post-doctoral clinical training at the University of Pennsylvania, where he worked with Dr. Martin Seligman, one of the leading experts in the field of optimism and happiness, on several studies. Dr. Rashid is part of University of Pennsylvania’s team which has trained mental health professionals and educators in Australia, United Kingdom and in the United States.

Dr. Rashid has also worked with Asian tsunami survivors and 9/11 families. His teaching and research has been recognized with several awards and has been published in peer-reviewed scientific journals. Dr. Rashid guest edited the Journal of Clinical Psychology, May 2009 issue, exclusively devoted to positive interventions for clinical disorder. His forthcoming book: Positive Psychotherapy, co-authored by Dr. Seligman, will be published by Oxford University Press. Dr. Rashid’s work has also been featured in Wall Street Journal, Psychology Today, Toronto Star and Globe & Mail.

Dr. Rashid is also trained in Hatha yoga and in Mindfulness based Stress Reduction (MBSR). As a native of Pakistan, influenced by Sufi, Yogic and Buddhist philosophy, advocates active and realistic search for the half-full portion of the proverbial glass to survive, thrive and flourish.
